Long gone are the days of Monotype Corsiva used on binary colour cardstock…

Make room for custom fonts and graphics, hand painted designs, shimmery layers, and much much more… Picking out stationery is one of the most explosively fun and creative aspects of planning your dream wedding… No exaggeration! Taking brides to a stationary consult is one of my favourite parts of the whole wedding planning process.

So many colours, fonts, textures, designs… Oh my! All coming together to express the essence and unique feel of your wedding – It’s like an amuse bouche of your wedding day; a little sneak preview to your guests of the exciting day they will not want to miss!

Here are a few spectacular wedding stationery ideas for today’s modern and trendy wedding…

A Versailles inspired stationary suite via Momental Designs – Kristy Rice is one of the best in the industry. Check out her blog Rice Ink for great ideas and all the latest stationary trends.

And another gorgeous creation from Momental Designs, this time with a hand painted look in linen, gold and sage… I love the look of hand painted invites!

We are lucky to have such amazingly  talented stationers, even in Calgary -  such as the fabulous gals at The Social Page whom designed this perfectly pink invitation suite & menu for the Julianne Young Weddings booth at the Calgary Bridal Expo 2012.

And last but not least, paper cut out style invites (also called Papel Picado or perforated) are making a huge splash this year in stationary trends. Here are a few ideas from a fabulous post in WedLuxe via Paper Damsels.

As you can see, there are so many options when it comes to choosing your wedding invitations - I know it can seem overwhelming! The key is to have fun with it, express your wedding style, and be creative.

Personally, I think it’s also a great idea to find a creative and professional stationary designer to work with, that will be able to put together the perfect expression for your unique wedding – It’s amazing what these people can do!

I needed to share this gorgeous chuppah I found on Style Me Pretty and Lisa Lefkowitz Photography. Unbelievably elegant, and the soft colour palette makes me absolutely flutter… If Ralph Lauren designed chuppahs, I tell ya!

I can picture this at the Rimrock outdoor patio… It couldn’t be more perfect…

Just thought I’d plant that little seed in your head…

A wedding full of gorgeousness – From the stunning bride and groom, down to the last cozy detail…

Brooke & Chris were married February 26th, 2012 on a beautiful winter day at The Iron Goat  in Canmore, Alberta. Despite the chilly forecast, the mountain loving couple were determined to have an outdoor winter wedding, and the day was filled with warmth and love from start to finish!

I loved this wedding in all of its rustic, oh-so romantic and down-to-earth mountain glamour. The design was meant to emphasize the natural beauty of the Rockies, and included an aisle of birch logs, pine cones, and elegant white candles in mason jars. During the gorgeous outdoor ceremony on the patio of The Iron Goat , guests stayed warm and cozy with hand warmers, while they sipped on a deliciously comforting drink from the custom hot chocolate bar.

The reception was filled with soft gold and ivory details, pine cone garlands, candlelight, and birch rounds. A very delicious pie bar replaced the traditional wedding cake, and included pies of all flavours and sizes - with the ever-so-popular Pie Pops that were a hit among the guests. This has been one of my most favourite designs yet!

One of the highlights of the night was no doubt the aerial silks performance from Allison Villa, to the tune of The Band Perry – All your Life – Setting the most romantic and intimate tone for the night.

I am so blessed to have had such sweet-as-pie couples like Brooke and Chris – I really do miss them, and when I see smiles as great as these on my client’s wedding day, there is nothing more fulfilling! Here are a few words from Brooke and Chris…

“From the first meeting that we had with Julianne, our wedding planning stress was dramatically relieved. Julianne was able to seamlessly pull together all of small details we wanted to include in our ceremony and reception. She was able to pull everything together in under 6 weeks!

This enabled us, our friends and families to enjoy our wedding, rather than it being a nightmare of stress. Julianne is passionate about planning weddings and takes pride in making sure every little detail is acknowledged. We are not sure what we would have done without her, there is nothing we would have changed, the day was perfect and Julianne helped to make sure of that.

When we walked into the reception we couldn’t believe how beautiful everything was. She captured our theme and created the ambiance of warmth and romance.

She went above and beyond all expectations and we encourage all couples to hire Julianne for their wedding…it was one of the best decisions we made in the planning process! We are a little sad it is over as we won’t be able to work with her anymore.
