The Fall & Winter Wedding- Finding Your Perfect Colour Palette

Scroll to Read Article

At Julianne Young Weddings, we love Fall & Winter. Especially for weddings.

Synonymous with gorgeous amber hued landscapes, apple cider and pumpkin spiced-everything, Fall is also romantic and beautiful as a wedding season. Warm, rich and sultry tones of maroon, gold & navy blue, savoury menu items and crackling fires all adhere to an inviting and romantic event. Winter is just as beautiful; with soft sparkling snowfalls, crystal details, cool tones of blue, silver & pink.

Fall and Winter weddings- you may think cold, dreary and unconventional. But with all the pressures & potential pitfalls that come with your traditional spring & summer wedding, autumn and winter nuptials offer some significant advantages- less chances of rain (which can cause glitches according to your wedding venue), gorgeous food options (rich and savoury palettes and seasonal comfort food- yummy!), not to mention the lavish naked cakes with countless adornments that we love), wonderful foliage options rather than flowers (availability of your favourite blooms may be difficult, so instead choose lush green moss as a surface for your escort card table and manzanita branches lining the isle during your ceremony.

But amongst all of these memorable and beautiful options lies our personal favourite: the opportunity to choose a stunning nature-inspired wedding colour palette that compliments the cooler months of September through to March.

Google search ‘Fall & Winter Weddings’ and your bound to find countless images of pumpkins, orange gerbera daisies, red leaves galore and so much white. But at Julianne Young Weddings, we believe that you can do an autumnal wedding with traditional elegance, soft tastefulness, and classic romance that will be forever timeless.

You may think tropical weddings are solely for the spring/summer months, but choosing a tropical destination wedding during off season is both economical and more intimate. As long as your venue has tropical elements: bamboo features, palm fronds, tropical landscaping and a humid temperature (to help tropical florals survive), beautiful tropical decor is serene and striking. These beautiful colours of fuchsia, chartreuse, deep orange and lilac allow you to incorporate beautiful flowers including Orchids, Heliconias, heavenly fragrant Plumeria, Protea, Anthurium and Ginger Flower.

Navy blues, greens & purple, antique furniture, lace, gold heirlooms and chandeliers. These are a few things we think of when Vintage elegance comes to mind. Silver votives and antique silverware will add a perfect romantic & personal touch, while chandeliers will add a perfect glamorous ambiance.

This absolutely beautiful colour palette is soft & romantic, more for the classic bride wishing to have a somewhat muted decor style, but with lots of traditional and elegant touches. A soft powder blue silk napkin adds the perfect amount of colour paired with the neutral tones of ivory and soft beige, while the greenery of the flowers brings in a perfect natural influence. Add plenty of white floating candles, tall glassware, twinkling lights and silver chiavari chairs and you have a truly gorgeous reception room that is bound to create awe within every guest.

COOL ROMANCE
