The vision for this wedding was timeless, elegant, but most of all – An amazing celebration for their friends & family. The playful duo love to host gatherings for their friends and family, gather round a guitar and sing till the early hours, and as such we wanted the wedding to be a reflection of this lighthearted joie de vivre.
The festivities started off with a bang with a welcome event aboard the SS Moyie, where 100 guests sailed around the Glenmore Reservoir while enjoying canapes, cocktails, and a sunset the evening before the wedding. To tie in Lauren’s musical background, the wedding ceremony was held at the incredible Theatre Junction Grand amid oversized gold chandeliers adorned with white flowers, and a floral hedge lining the unique T-shaped aisle, while a string trio played the coupled favourite modern songs. The following reception at the Fairmont Palliser was a classic white wedding with a modern twist, and was an absolute delight to design & bring to life. Notably, a custom dance floor embellished with the couples logo (which was inspired by the shape of a hockey rink as a subtle & classy nod to Jordan’s NHL career), hundreds of warm candles in tall crystal candelabras & overflowing white floral centerpieces, and lighting that made the room absolutely sparkle in the most refined & brilliant way.
The speeches were moving, the ambiance was that of pure joy, and the night was just beginning. We created a fun twist by installing a white hockey net to the dance floor, which guests randomly selected by our great MC Jason Strudwick and his lovely wife Schoena, were invited to take a shot on net to get the newlyweds to kiss. Fun pairings included Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Taylor Hall, and Connor McDavid.
After a first dance that left not a dry eye in the house, the wonderful CCMA & Juno award winning artist Brett Kissel and his band took the stage, and rocked the night away – An absolute highlight of the day. One of our favourite memories was seeing the entire bridal party, Oilers teammates, & Jordan’s rockin dad singing Sweet Home Alabama on stage with Brett, while Lauren & Jordan certainly took their center stage solos as well.
