I am not afraid to admit that at 21 years old when I first started my wedding planning business, I had no idea what I was doing.
Do not get me wrong, at the time, I thought I knew. After 4 years of volunteering with many event planning organizations, completing an internship, and completing a certification program in wedding planning (Oh, and a bachelor’s degree in Commerce in Entrepreneurship); I had enough to get started and I was passionate & determined as ever. Looking back, I still had no idea what I was really getting myself into, or any idea how difficult this really would be.
I’m not trying to scare you, it’s just my truth.
This is a lot harder than JLo makes it look.
A lot of what you learn as an event producer simply comes from experience. From real-life scenarios; Not from a textbook. There aren’t a lot of resources for statistics or data on the industry. There wasn’t a course that I took that made me fully ready to operate a luxury wedding planning company. Better yet, there was nowhere I could double check that I was doing things right or wrong anyways.
So, how do you start, grow, or manage a sustainable wedding planning business? How do you know if you’re doing things right or making huge mistakes? Is your process going to be successful for your clients and your vendors? How do you price out your programs and set rates that are fair to your clients & to you? How do you stand out from the literal hundreds other wedding planners in your city? Is there any other way to be successful in this industry outside of trial & error?
Yes, there is. That is why I started this program & decided to open up my doors to you; To help you through the trying & difficult stages of launching and growing your business; To help you learn from my experiences and, oh yes, my mistakes; To shed light on your process & systems to make you more successful and confident; To raise the bar for wedding planners & make help the industry be the best it can be.
A rising tide lifts all boats.
This is precisely the reason we felt it was time to share our knowledge, and help others grow stable, ethical, and inspiring businesses.
